On June 22, 2024, India’s new Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI–TTP) was introduced at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Home Minister Amit Shah launched the initiative, which attempts to expedite the immigration procedure for Indian citizens and holders of Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cards. Currently, the new method does not apply to overseas travelers.

It is anticipated that FTI-TTP will shorten the wait times for travelers in line to provide immigration officials their travel documents. FTI-TTP will be introduced in seven additional major airports around the nation as part of the program’s first phase, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.

How the Fast Track Immigration program operates and how to apply

To use FTI–TTP, travelers must register online and successfully finish an immigration bureau verification process. After that, the traveler is given the designation of “Trusted Traveller.” When arriving or departing, only travelers holding the status of “Trusted Traveller” are permitted to utilize the FTI-TTP facility. To avoid the lines, registered travelers can use automated border gates or e-gates. There are eight electronic gates in Terminal 3 of Delhi International Airport, four in each of the arrival and departure areas.
